On June 3, immediately after the end of the regular sittings, at the deputies’ initiative, the RA National Assembly convened extraordinary sitting, having two legislative initiatives, which would be debated in the special procedure, i.e. the debate of the draft laws in the second reading would be held within twenty-four hours after passing them in the first reading by the decision of the parliament.

The draft law on Making Addenda to the Law on Temporary Invalidity and Maternity Allowances authored by the deputy of the RA NA My Step Faction Narek Zeynalyan was debated in the first reading, which is conditioned by Covid-19 pandemic.

The legislative regulation has a goal to raise the working citizens’ social protection, promoted the reduction of the shadow in the labor market and support anti-epidemic measures.

The RA Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Security Smbat Saiyan presented the negative position of the RA Government.

In his final speech Narek Zeynalyan urged his colleagues to vote for the draft law, taking into consideration its importance.

The Head of the RA NA My Step Faction Lilit Makunts informed that taking into account the concerns of the Government, the draft law would be revised during the period from the first to the second reading.

The draft law was passed in the first reading by voting.

The second item of the agenda, the draft law on Amending the Constitutional Law on Making Amendments and Addendum to the Constitutional Law the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly authored by Anna Karapetyan and Vladimir Vardanyan was debated in the first reading.

The RA NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs endorsed the draft law.

This draft law was also passed in the first reading.
